Carpets in Dundee, supplied and fitted
Pick a range, then a colourway.
Looking for carpets in Dundee? James Mackenzie Flooring supplies the carpet and James fits it himself, with over 30 years of carpet fitting in Dundee and the surrounding towns. Every range on this site has its price shown: twists, saxony and heathers, from hard-wearing family carpets to heavy luxury piles. Sheet vinyl is fitted too. Laminate, LVT and carpet tiles are supply only (delivery), not fitted.
A carpet shop without the showroom
There is no street showroom, so you are not paying for one. Instead you can browse every carpet with its price online, enter your room sizes to see the exact piece and cost, and then James comes to the house for a free measure. The price he confirms is for the carpet cut for your rooms, fitted by the person who measured it.
Not sure which carpet suits the room? A twist pile hides footmarks and suits halls, stairs and family rooms. Saxony is soft and luxurious for bedrooms and lounges. Heathers (flecked colours) hide everyday dirt. Stain-resistant polypropylene carpets are a good choice with children and pets. James is happy to advise when he measures, or call 07948 604069.
How the carpet price is worked out
The carpet is priced on the size cut from the roll: cut length times roll width. Carpet fitting is £5 per square metre, with an £80 minimum when the piece is under 16 m². Gripper is free with fitting when you buy the carpet from us. Underlay is optional. If you add it on this site, it is sized from those carpet pieces rather than sold as a guess. Vinyl fitting on the same visit is £6.50 per square metre, with a £100 minimum. Lifting the old floor and moving furniture are priced on inspection: James quotes them when he measures. Stairs and door trimming are not on the room rate: ask James for a price.
Stairs are ordinary work here, but they are measured on the treads. A straight flight and a winder are not the same job, so the stair price waits until James has seen the house. A room wider than the roll needs a join. The seam is planned before the knife comes out, where furniture or the light will hide it. Offcuts and gripper waste are taken away.
We cover Dundee and surrounding areas up to about 40 miles away, including Dundee, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth, Carnoustie, Arbroath, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Brechin, Blairgowrie, Perth, St Andrews, Cupar, Newport-on-Tay and Tayport.
The site measure is free, and the quote is made at the house. Call 07948 604069. You can open a range and enter the room size to see the piece before you phone. No payment is taken on this site. Fitting is booked after James confirms the order.
Questions
Is there a carpet shop I can visit in Dundee?
There is no street showroom. Every carpet range is on this website with its price, and James comes to your home for a free measure before anything is ordered. Call 07948 604069.
Which carpet is best for stairs and pets?
A dense twist pile with a felt backing wears best on stairs, and a stain-resistant polypropylene carpet copes well with pets and children. Pair it with a firm, dense underlay on stairs.
How much does carpet fitting cost in Dundee?
Carpet fitting is £5 per m², with an £80 minimum when the carpet piece is under 16 m². Gripper is free with fitting when you buy the carpet from us.
Do you fit stairs?
Yes. Stairs and landings are measured on site and fitted by James. They are not on the £5 per m² room rate: ask James for a price.
Is gripper included?
Gripper is free with fitting when you buy the carpet from us. It is charged at the normal box price only if you choose delivery without fitting.
Do you measure before fitting?
Yes. A free site measure is the usual first step. Call 07948 604069. You can also enter room sizes on a product page to see the piece and the price.
Which towns do you cover?
Dundee and surrounding areas up to about 40 miles away. The named towns are on the areas page. There is no shop address: James visits the house.
Can you join a room wider than the roll?
James avoids joins: a room is cut in one piece whenever a roll is wide enough. A join is only needed when the room is wider than every roll, and then it is planned on site so it sits where the light or the furniture will hide it.
